Tips for blending your own facial spritzer

Tips for blending your own facial spritzer
By: Marissa Anteby

Heat getting to you? Want to feel refreshed and cool? Try this at home spa treatment.

You can find all the ingredients for this facial spritzer at a local health food store. After that, the making of the spritzer only takes a few minutes, and it's so worth it!

To really enhance this experience to the fullest potential, see if you can remain 'in the moment,' as you prepare the ingredients and move through the instructions. One of the easiest ways to be 'present' with what you are doing right now, is to follow your breathing. Become aware of how you are breathing. You don't have to change anything, just notice your inhalations and exhalations as they arrive and depart. You may find that they mix together to create a rhythmic pattern. Enjoy this ebb and flow of breath.

Keep your awareness tuned in to your breathing as you gather the following ingredients:
1. 1 cup distilled or mineral water.
2. 4 drops geranium essential oil.
3. 4 drops sweet orange essential oil.
4. 3 drops Mandarin orange essential oil.
5. 2 drops cinnamon leaf essential oil.
6. 2 drops cardamon essential oil.
7. Optional: 1 tsp sweet almond oil, and 1 tsp witch hazel.
8. 1 glass jar with a lid.
9. 1 2-ounce spray bottle.

Oops, did you lose your focus on your breathing? No worries, simply go back to it. Breathe slowly and deeply; getting more and more interested in how you are miraculously capable of slowing down time, by simply taking more time to breathe.

I realize that most people don't have these kinds of ingredients on hand. If you don't feel like running out to the health food store, feel free to improvise. Be creative. Mix things together and make it up as you go along. Believe it or not, you can get the same Zen feeling by gently spraying your face with plain old tap water and meditating on your natural breathing.

Here's what you'll need to do:
• Place all the ingredients in the glass jar and securely tighten the lid.
• Shake well, blending the water, essential oils, and perhaps the other
optional ingredients.
• Pour 2 ounces of this mixture in to the spray bottle.
• Keep the remainder in the glass jar, and store it in your refrigerator.
Make sure to label the jar so no one drinks it. This facial spritzer is not
to be ingested.
• Lightly spritz your face and hair; hold the spray bottle at least 12"
away from your face, close your eyes, and give 2 pumps with your index
finger. Warning: do not spray this or any other essential oil product in your eyes.

After you have sprayed your face, return to the breathing exercise, this time breathing the beautiful scents in through your nose and all the way down to your toes. Spend a few precious minutes just relaxing here. To me this is the most vital component of this whole project, just BEing! Not DOing, just BEing.
