Tips for filling your home with serenity
By: Marissa Anteby
In order to live your greatest possible life, you need to set yourself up for success. By thinking positive thoughts and radiating those thoughts out in to the space you occupy and beyond, you will constantly be walking in to your dreams! It's like an on-going walking meditation.
Start with a few cleansing breathes. Inhale slowly, and turn your attention inward. To get what you want, you must first know what it is that you want. Look to your inner-self for guidance as to your truest, deepest passions. As you gradually exhale, send your unique qualities out in to the space around you, like you are filling every corner of the room with the best parts of you.
Continue breathing in and out at a steady even pace. With each consecutive breath, give yourself the suggestion to relax in to the present moment without worrying about the past or projecting in to the future. This practice trains your mind to focus and gets you connected to yourself in ways you might not have experienced before.
Your emotions and thoughts disseminate out from you and mix with the energy that is already encircling you. By exhaling your best qualities out in to the room, you are ensuring that the air you then inhale, is positively charged. That's exactly what you want in order to propel yourself forward towards greater peace in your life. Bit by bit, negativity is replaced with positive emotions, thoughts, and actions.
There are a few things you can do to make your home more receptive to your calming energy:
- Foster a quiet, slow paced atmosphere.
Soft lighting, candles, airy fabrics, cushy furniture, etc., all keep energy from bouncing around too much and getting frenetic. This makes it easier for you to be more thoughtful. You'll see that arguments dissipate, as you are more apt to consider your words before you speak in this placid atmosphere.
- Avoid sharp angles and pointy edges.
Use tablecloths and long loose drapery where appropriate. Curves and ripples can be enhanced by using natural fabrics that sway with people's movement through the home.
- Bring the outside in, by adding floppy-leafed or bushy plants.
Energy will have to slow down to move around the planters and their contents, lingering and getting absorbed in to the soil. This will also reduce levels of air pollution and noise inside.
- Cut back on the amount of mirrors you have around your home.
Energy bounces off mirrors and moves at a faster rate instead of remaining low and slow.
- Incorporate soft soothing colors that flow from one room to the next.
Pale blues, greens, and creams are tranquil colors.
Get in the habit of sitting quietly, contemplating all the things you like about yourself, your home, and your life. Use any opportunity you can to re-connect to your breathing and savor it's rhythmic essence.
